Format
Individual Rounds

Individual Theme Round: The Individual Theme Round is a 45-minute, 8-problem round featuring a theme. Problems can be and are drawn from all high school mathematics subjects.

Individual Relay Round: The Individual Relay Round is a 45-minute, 16-problem round. There are 4 sets with 4 problems each; within each set, successive problems depend on the solution of the previous.
Team Rounds

Team General Round: The Team General Round is a 45-minute, 8-problem round. The team collaborates on 8 unrelated problems.

Team Guts Round: The Team Guts Round is a 60-minute, 21-problem round of varying difficulties and point values. The problems are divided into sets of 3. Each team will have a runner who brings problem sets from the scoring tables and drops off the team’s answers for each set there. The point value for each problem increases between each set.
Scoring

Two individual rounds where each individual can score a total of 480 points.

Each problem in the Individual Theme Round is worth an increasing number of points for a total of 80 points. The problems are worth 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, and 37 points respectively.

Each problem in each set of the Individual Relay Round is worth an increasing number of points for a total of 80 points. The first set is worth 12, 13, 14, and 16 points. The second set is worth 13, 14, 15, and 16 points. The third set is worth 14, 15, 16, and 17 points. The last set is worth 15, 16, 17, and 18 points.

Two team rounds account for a total of 450 points.

In the Team General Round, each problem is worth 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, and 37 points respectively for a total of 240 points.

In the Team Guts Round, problems are weighed by set (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 points per problem per set of three) for a total of 210 points.

Awards are given for each round and individual and team overall winners

Individual overall winners are determined by the sum of scores in the individual rounds​

Team overall winners are determined by the sum of scores in the team rounds
